
Bangor - Irene G. (Jordan) Johnson, 75, died unexpectedly April 6, 2021, at a Bangor hospital. She was born November 10, 1945, in Milo, the daughter of Calvin E. Jordan and Florence I. (Decker) Jordan.
Irene graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1964. Irene gave much of her life to serving others. She worked with developmentally disabled adults for 42 years at the Bouche Center for Learning (formerly MHCPV) in a work setting, and 31 years at Commonsense Housing in a residential setting. In 2012, she began volunteering at My Friends Place, working with people living with Alzheimer's disease.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 21 years, Steven M. Johnson, are her son, Kevin J. Mansfield and his life partner, Robin Cacace, of Old Town; her stepdaughter, Erica Johnson of Bangor; her sister, Colleen F. Hunt of Bridgton; her grandsons, Colin B. Mansfield of Norway and Ian T. MacCardle and his wife, Kaitlin, of Glendale, AZ; a niece, Heather I. (Hunt) Ellsmore of Bridgton and her husband, Roger; and a nephew, Michael C. Hunt and his wife, Eileen, of Cerritos, CA.
She was predeceased by her sister, Rita M. Jordan; and her son, Shawn T. Mansfield.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of her life this summer at a time and place to be determined. She will be buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery, next to her son.
