Nancy Monahan (Hill) - Class Of 1964

Nancy Lee (Monahan) HillBangor - Nancy Lee (Monahan) Hill, 77, passed away peacefully in her own home surrounded by her beloved son and granddaughter on December 13, 2023. She was born January 15, 1946, in Webster, MA, the eldest of five children of Ada (Bates) Monahan and John Monahan Sr.
Nancy graduated from Brewer High School in 1964. Nancy then served in the Navy until she met her late husband, Douglas Hill, and had two beautiful children, Deanna and Jason. She graduated with a degree and became a licensed substance abuse counselor in 1986; Nancy and her two children moved to different states and settled back in Maine in 1988. She was an avid member of AA for many years and is known to have made an impact on many lives and the community as a sponsor and a friend. She was filled with wisdom and shared her plate of knowledge for those who sought it.
In 1994, Nancy found her dream cabin, "Sweet Haven," after decades of looking for the pond that she had discovered when she was a teenager. This is where she spent her summers relaxing with her family on the front porch with a gorgeous view of the pristine pond.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; aunts and uncles; her daughter, Deanna L. (Procise) Allen; and her youngest brother, Michael W. Monahan. She is survived by her son, Jason D. Hill of Bangor, ME; granddaughter, Jenna L. Procise of Houlton, ME; siblings, John Monahan Jr. of Charleston, ME, Jayne Nesbit of East Corinth, ME, and James Monahan of Corinth, ME; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends including those up North in Oakfield and Island Falls.
There will be no graveside funeral services due to personal wishes. You may mail checks or donate in-person at Hope Health and Living Center, 179-181 Corporate Drive, Bangor, ME 04401.
There will be a gathering in January to celebrate Nancy's graduation into the spiritual realm and to share memories of her life here on Earth. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Whenever we think of Nancy we will think of how selfless and devoted she was to helping lives especially those struggling with addiction.
