HOLDEN - Elton Cleveland Smith, 67, joined his heavenly father on Dec. 3, 2013, in the same home he was born in on June 25, 1946. He is the son of the late Elton and Phyllis (Gray) Smith and brother of the late Winona Nolan and Barbara Arey.
Elton was married to his Darling Ruthie, who was his everything. Together they enjoyed gardening and dancing. She was the light of his life and his soul mate.
Elton is survived by his loving children; son, Scott Smith and his partner, Melissa Travis; and daughters, Melissa (Smith) Hafford and her husband, John Hafford, and Miranda (McIntosh) Jandreau and her husband, Benjamin Jandreau. Elton was their guiding force and greatly loved. He will be forever remembered by his boys, grandsons, Scot Smith, Tyler Hafford, Colby Hafford, and Wyatt Jandreau. He will also be greatly missed by many special nieces, nephews, and special friends. He brought joy to their hearts and laughter to their lives. Elton will be remembered by all who knew him for his great stories and wonderful laugh. He made all those who knew him feel special and loved. May he rest in peace with his parents and sisters, whom he has missed very much.
Elton has requested there be no services. It was his wish to be remembered as he was with a smile on his face and laughter in his eyes. A celebration of life will be held in the summer at his home, which he considered his piece of paradise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
