Columbia Falls - Muriel G. Smith passed away unexpectedly September 15, 2024, at a Bangor hospital. She was born on November 17, 1945, to Wendell and Marilena (Sinclair) Tucker.
Muriel spent most of her childhood in Columbia Falls, until her mother and father moved to Holden, to manage the Cedar Haven Trailer Park. Muriel graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1964, where she made many lifelong friends. After marrying Gordon Smith they had two sons, Dwayne and Dale, and moved back to Columbia Falls. Muriel worked various jobs throughout her life, most notably at Mrs. Big John's and as the administrative assistant for the town of Columbia Falls. Mom was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed spending time her family and friends, especially at Montegail Pond.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Dwayne and Clark; husband, Gordon; and her son, Dale, who she missed dearly and is now reunited with him. She is survived by her son, Dwayne; his wife, Kimberly; grandsons, Derek and Devin, who were her whole world; her sister, Clara, all of Columbia Falls; and her special cat, Boots.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 28, from 1-4 p.m. at the Columbia Town Hall, where refreshments will be available and memories can be shared. A private burial will be held at a later date.
