Eastbrook And Brewer -  On Jan. 3, 2014, Norman passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the age of 66 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who was always ready to lend a hand to whomever needed it.

Norman grew up in Maine, living in Rumford and Brewer during his school years. After graduating from high school Norman enlisted in the U.S. Navy in1966, serving overseas on the U.S.S. Charles P. Cecil as a Signalman and was honorably discharged in 1972. After the Navy, he discovered his love for carpentry through cabinet making and finish work, becoming a true craftsman whose work graces many homes in Hancock County today. Norman wholeheartedly enjoyed hunting, bird watching and traveling to Franconia Notch, N.H., in the fall with his wife, Judi. And he loved coffee, a lot. Norman had a great time playing the drums in a local country music band, The Country Connection, for several years in the eighties with his good friends Dick Palmer, Tim Dickens, Brian Abbott, and Tom Taylor. He was an ardent HAM radio enthusiast and a member of both the Ellsworth Amateur Wireless Association and the Bangor Pine Tree State Amateur Radio Club for 20 years. He volunteered for charity events with both clubs, including the annual Tour de Cure bicycle race, Boy Scout jamboree, annual field day operations and Kenduskeag canoe race. Norman also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Eastbrook Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Norman leaves behind his wife, Judi Veillette, of 35 years, in addition to his son, Norman Veillette Jr. and wife, Janis, of Bangor; daughter, Victoria Smith and husband, Matthew, of Ocala, Fla.; son, Christopher Veillette and wife, Kristi, of Brewer; stepdaughter, Shannon Manzi and husband, James Sheard, of North Smithfield, R.I.; stepdaughter, Stephanie Wilson and husband, Carl, of Lamoine; and stepdaughter, Stacey King and husband, Kenny, of Sharon, Vt. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Patrick, Tyler, Rachael, Damian, Olivia, Ryan, Emily, Kyle, Calli, Vance, Mitchell, Toren, Cyrus and Mia. Surviving Norman is his sister, Rose Cox and husband, Buzz; sister, Cathy Anderson and husband, Carl; sister, Lori Clark and husband, Danny; sister, Betty Woodbury and husband, Bill; brother, Roger Veillette; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, George; mother, Theresa Veillette; and brother, George Veillette Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a Christian funeral service will be held, 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, followed by a gathering of family and friends at 1 p.m. at the Eastbrook Community Center.
