Marjorie Wright - Class Of 1966

BOWDOINHAM – Marjorie Ellen “Marjie” Wright, 56, of Bowdoinham, died as a result of a long battle with cancer on Nov. 23, 2004, at her home overlooking the Kennebec River surrounded by members of her family. She was born in Orrington, the fourth daughter of Henry Roger and Ursule Madeline (Spruce) Wright on June 8, 1948. She graduated from Brewer High School and attended the University of Maine where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. For 12 years, Marjie worked as the International Marketing Manager and Senior Tourism Specialist in the Maine Office of Tourism. She represented Maine all over the world for which she was awarded Maine State Employee of the Year. Her last nine months were spent realizing a longstanding dream of cooking for guests at an exceptional B&B. Marjie loved hiking, traveling, reading and being outdoors. She had incomparable style, which she applied to everything – interior decorating, landscaping, cooking and building her own home. She was funny and well read, thoughtful and curious. She is survived by her co-vivant, Kris Farris of Bowdoinham; two sons, Jamison John York of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Willson Baxter York and his wife, Carey, of Centreville, Va.; one brother, Milton Wright of Readfield; four sisters, Linda Henry of Curepipe, Mauritius, Indian Ocean, Julie Harkins of Irvine, Calif., Barbara Pappalardo of Newington, Conn., Catherine Wright-Ramsay of Hampden, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make donations may send them care of Marjie’s Friends, P.O.
