BREWER - Leo D. Cookson, Jr., 76, passed away October 18, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Island Falls, son of Leo D. Cookson, Sr. and Mildred (James) Cookson.
He was a 1956 graduate of Brewer High School. Leo, known as Sonny to his family, worked many years as a salesman. Later he owned and managed SonnyRays Restaurant/Bar and the Hitching Post. Leo was a member of the Eagles Club and served on the board of trustees.
Surviving are his son, Scott, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Kara and Cole; great-grandchild, Devin; sister, Cathleen Cookson of Glenburn and Lake Alfred, FL.; and his very special lady, best friend, companion, and dance partner, Earline Harris of Bangor; sister-in-law, Jo Carol Cookson of Glenburn; nieces and nephews, Rachel Robichaud, Barb Cookson, Deb Gunn, Ryan Robichaud and Don Cookson.
Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by a son, Leo D. Cookson, III, a brother, Peter and a sister, Nancy.
