Clifton - Marlene Getchell, 75, was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Lee, the daughter of Harold and Margaret Chase. She peacefully passed away May 12, 2024, at home, in Clifton, with family.
Marlene worked many years in the medical field, from recording new childbirth names, transcription, medical secretary, office manager, medical records, and lastly coding. Marlene enjoyed helping people no matter who they were - she had a way that made people feel loved. Marlene was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, which her family and friends will greatly miss. Marlene enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, riding on her daughter's boat, talking with her son after work, playing games with her granddaughter and spoiling her grandson with goodies. Her favorite time of year was when she would go on vacation to Aruba with her sister-in-law, Donna and cousin, Arlene. Those girls were trouble together but they made the best memories and she enjoyed every moment with them.
Marlene was survived by one son, Ingerson Getchell Jr. "Punkin" of Clifton; one daughter, Nikki Goodwin and her husband, Shaun, of Eddington; grandson, Damien Goodwin of Eddington; granddaughter, Ashlee Goodwin of Eddington; sister, Pamela Treadwell and her husband, Roger, of Amherst; brother, Issac Chase "Ike" and his wife, Donna, of Belmont, NH; brother, Harold Chase "Neno" of Bucksport; as well as many nieces and nephews; and one special great-nephew that just recently stole her heart, Arie Plante of Portland. Marlene was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Ingerson F. Getchell; and her parents, Harold and Margaret Chase of Clifton.
Friends and family are invited to her celebration of life 1 p.m. June 8, 2024, at Clifton United Baptist Church, 742 Airline Rd., Clifton, ME 04428.
