Bangor - Judith A. (Mugnai) Sawyer, 74, died peacefully May 31, 2023, in Bangor, just two days prior to her 75th birthday. She was born June 2, 1948, in Machias, the daughter of George E. and Edith M. (Mallar) Mugnai.
Judith was a 1966 graduate of Brewer High School and worked for 38 years for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, having worked in the management of the office retiring in 2004. She also worked for her longtime friend, Dale Henderson.
Surviving are her brother, John M. Mugnai and his wife, Pamela, of Orrington; a sister, Helen Brettagna of Orange, CT; four stepchildren, Ricky Sawyer and his wife, Denise, of Orrington, Timothy Sawyer of Bangor, Pamela Sawyer of Bangor and Lisa Sawyer of Lubec; also special nieces and a nephew, Michele (Mugnai) Freeman, Justin Mugnai, Kristina Mugnai-Price and Joan (Gerry) Gervasio of Connecticut. Judy was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Sawyer; her stepson, Donald L. Sawyer; her sister, Elsie Mugnai Preston Johnson; and by a brother-in-law, Joseph Brettagna. A graveside service and burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Marston Cemetery, Snows Corner Road, Orrington, with a reception that will be held immediately afterward.
