Guy Little - Class Of 1937

WATERVILLE - Guy Alfred "Al" Little Jr. died April 29, 2013 at Oak Grove Center. Al was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Orrington, son of Guy A. Little Sr. and Sadie V. (Jameson) Little. Al was educated in Orrington and Brewer, graduating from Brewer High in 1937, and National Youth Administration in Quoddy, in 1939.
He worked for Eastern Fine Paper, Brewer, for 13 years. In 1949, he and his dad bought Keith's Alleys in Old Town. Al worked his day job and worked nights and weekends at the Alleys. The Alley burnt down early March 1953. They moved to Waterville and bought the Metro-Bowl and Streamline Alleys in 1953.
Al and his first wife divorced in 1954. He married Dorothy Chenevert Robbins in July 1955. Together, they built the D&A Billiard Lounge in Waterville in 1967 and built the B&A Billiards in Scarborough. They later sold the Metro-Bowl and the Billiard lounges in the late '70s. Al kept working in various jobs until he was 90 years old.
He was a sports fan, mostly baseball and pool. Yes, he was a (Yankee fan), attending about 200 games at all of the major league parks, including the last five built before 2011. He traveled to all 50 states and much of Canada seeing 10 of the best National Parks. Al and Dot sent 16 men to the World BCA Pool Championships, having more than 35 Worlds Best here in Maine between 1968 and 1976. He also had many top bowlers in tournament, including Maine's best, Charles Milan.
He is survived by his son, Gary W. Little, and wife Linda, of Shawmut, grandchildren Shawn L. Little and wife Pamela, and Stephanie L. Wallis and husband Andrew, and great-granddaughter Darcy Little; stepdaughter Ann C. Paradis and husband Dean, of Winslow, grandchildren Brenda Larlee and husband Steve, of Oakland, and Sheryl Jason and friend Nate Wade, three great-granddaughters, Erica Jason and fiance Eric Hoak, and their daughter Landyn, of Waterville, and Rachael and Hailey Jason, both of Fairfield; his stepson, Maurice H. Tardy, of Presque Isle; his favorite nephew, Gerald "Jerry" St. Amand Jr., and wife Ruth; grandchildren Linwood R. Little Jr., Carolyn Lapack, Heidi Marshall, Heather Toth, Loralyn Little and Scott Labbe.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth S. (Lancaster) Little; his wife, Dot, of 46 years whom he loved dearly; his brother, Edward Little and wife Norma; and his youngest son, Linwood R. Little.
Burial will be at Howard Cemetery in Winslow. (Morning Sentinel 5/7/2013)
