Orrington - Francis "Smitty" Smith, 89, passed away December 12, 2019, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Brewer, January 17, 1930, the son of Edgar and Abigail (Smith) Williamson.
Smitty was a graduate of Brewer High School class of 1948. He married Nancy Jellison and they celebrated 68 years of marriage.
Smitty worked for Agway for many years and later for American Concrete. He and Nancy enjoyed 27 years wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He had many friends and a passion for flying, was a member of the Brewer Flying Club at the Brewer Airport and owned several planes.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Nancy, are four children, James Smith and his wife, Jody, Ronald Smith and his wife, Kate, Thomas Smith and his wife, Rhonda, and Catherine Allen and her husband, George; grandchildren, Jolie and Matt, Victoria, Shane and Kari Smith, Spencer and Madi Smith; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Violet.
