BREWER - Lorraine H. Beatham, 95, wife of 45 years to the late Roland K. Beatham, died Sept. 30, 2013, in Brewer, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Brewer, the daughter of Lewis and Laura (LaGasse) Hewes.

Lorraine was a 1935 graduate of Brewer High School, was a lifelong resident South Brewer and a lifelong member of the Second Congregational Church. She was very active in church life serving as a Sunday school teacher, working with youth groups, singing in the choir and serving as a member of the Ladies Aide Society. Lorraine was also a member of the Brewer Community Service Council and other community organizations.

Surviving are two children, Peter Beatham and his wife, Mary Ann, of Brewer and Barbara St. Clair of Cape May, N.J.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Lewis Hewes and his wife, Peggy, of Brewer; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may visit 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A memorial service to honor Lorraine's life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Second Congregational Church, 607 South Main St., Brewer. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
