ELLSWORTH FALLS Geraldine “Jerrie” A. Grindle died peacefully Nov. 27, 2007, at home after a long illness. She was born July 31, 1929, in Orrington, the daughter of Harold and Sadie (French) Lobley Sr. She attended Brewer High School before moving to Ellsworth Falls. She dedicated her life to raising a family and helping others in the community. She worked in her earlier years outside the home, but mostly enjoyed working on the polls each year, where she got to socialize with everyone. She held many office positions with the Ellsworth Post No. 109 VFW Ladies Auxiliary including president, and was very active with the American Legion Unit No. 63 ladies Auxiliary. She was one of the founding women in the Mothers Club, Ellsworth Falls, and was a den mother to the Cub Scouts when her boys were growing up. She enjoyed attending baseball games with her cowbell when the boys were younger. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making her dish towels for all of her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her time at the VFW hall playing bingo and socializing with her fellow bingo players weekly. She is survived by three children, Everett “Skip” Grindle Jr. and wife, Susan, Bruce Grindle and special wife, Alice; daughter, Robin Cummings and husband, Gerald, all of Ellsworth. She also leaves her special grandchildren, Scott and wife, LeAnne Grindle, Spencer and wife, Heather Grindle, Jessica and husband, Walter Johnson, Dominique and Angie Grindle, Melissa Cummings and Peter Brown, Julie and husband, Luis Puente-Mata, Brenda and husband, Steve Shelton, and Jon and wife, Tara White; precious great-grandchildren, Mason Grindle, Riley Grindle, Brielle Grindle, Jaden Cummings, Morgaen Puente-Mata, Nakia Puenta-Mata, Chase Puente-Mata, Sarah Shelton and Danel White. She also leaves behind special sisters-in-law, Barbara Wilson of Ellsworth and Catherine Clukey of Orange, Mass.; four brothers, Harold and his wife, Thelma, of Cape Coral, Fla., Norman and his wife, Joyce, of Fort Myers, Fla., Robert and his wife, Julia, of Orrington and Earl and his wife, Wendy, of Granite Bay, Calif.; two sisters, Alfreda and her husband, Paul Webster, of Bangor and Silver Springs, Fla., and Linda and her husband, William St. Louis, of Ocala, Fla.; sister-in-law, Margaret Lobley of Bangor. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett E. Grindle Sr.; brother, Perley Lobley; sister, Gloria; and brother-in-law, Arthur York. Calling hours will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
