PRESQUE ISLE - Earnestine E. Donovan Charette, 97, died peacefully, Sunday, December 12, 2021, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 18, 1924, in Brewer, the daughter of Ernest and Dora (Kent) Sheafe.
Earnestine graduated from Brewer High School in 1941. She and her husband Jasper Donovan Sr. worked hand in hand on their potato farm in Ashland and Nashville Plantation, where she held a Class 1 driver's license. Earnestine was also very active in the Democratic Party, and was never seen without a hat
Earnestine leaves behind a son, Jasper Donovan Jr. and his wife, Connie; a daughter, Dorretta Donovan Carney; 9 grandchildren, Troy Carney, Christopher Carney, Luann Brown, John Donovan, James Donovan, Lisa Donovan, Melisa Fletcher, April Barfield and Melodie LaVoie; and 5 great-grandchildren, Joshua Carney, Nathan Carney, Nicholas Brown, Christopher McIntosh and Alyssa Barfield. She also will be remembered by two daughters-in-law, Margaret Donovan and Diane Donovan; as well as two special nieces, Theresa Moreau and Rowena Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two husbands, Jasper Donovan Sr. and Zenon Charette; two children, Ronald Donovan and Frederick Donovan; two stepchildren, Dennis Donovan and Lula Jole; as well as three sisters, Ethel McMullen, Hope Richards, and Pearl White.
A graveside service will be conducted at Crouseville Cemetery, Crouseville, at a later date.
