Shirlee Blais (Mitchell) - Class Of 1959

HAMPDEN – Shirley Ann Mitchell, 65, died unexpectedly July 6, 2006, at her home. She was born June 5, 1941, in Jamaica Plain, Mass., the daughter of Hector L. and Mary Dorothy (Elliott) Blais. Shirley was a graduate of Brewer High School and went on to a career in banking. She was a member of the Hampden Quilting Club. Surviving are her husband, Herbert W. Mitchell of Hampden; two sons, David N. Mitchell II and his wife, Mary, of Abington, Mass. and Thomas B. Mitchell and his wife, Laketa, of Grimes, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kristen, Kelly, David III, Kelsey, MacKenzie and Alison; two sisters, Mary Henderson of Brewer and Jane DeLong of Augusta; four brothers, Peter Blais of Maryland, Robert Blais, Michael Blais, both of Holden and John Harding of Bangor; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, William Blais. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy Services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the services Tuesday.
