She also was a member of Legion of Mary, volunteering in the church, and volunteered in the gift shop of the Bangor YMCA. Recently, Mary joined a Bible Study class at Siesta Haven Assisted Living, where she resided, which she enjoyed very much.

Mary is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Pelletier and husband, Ronald, of Old Town, and Kathleen Julian and husband, Joseph, of Ellington, Conn.; three brothers, Charles Kelly of Holden, James Kelly of Bangor, and Paul Kelly and wife, Carol, of Bangor; her children, Karen Simpkins and husband, Dave, of Milan, Ind., Thomas Bell and wife, Michele, of Cincinnati, Stephen Bell of Cincinnati, and Kathy Rice and husband, Kevin, of Fairfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Madeliene and Adam Bell, Sam Simpkins, and Austin and Kellie Rice; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Kelly; and her brother, Carl Kelly.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Following the funeral Mass relatives and friends are invited to share in conversation and refreshments at the parish hall.
