Rhoda Montgomery (Breau) - Class Of 1937

Rhoda  BreauBREWER - Rhoda L. Breau, 92, wife of the late Frank J. Breau, died Oct. 9, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Brewer, the daughter of John M. and Clara (Nash) Montgomery. Rhoda grew up in Brewer, attended Brewer schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1937, where she played basketball. She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. Rhoda was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the YAC Club for more than 50 years. Surviving are five children, Edward Breau and his wife, Martha, of Sebring, Fla., Betty Dame and her husband, Roy, of Brewer, Sally Houston and her husband, Tom, of Brewer, Rhonda Ellis of Hermon and Frank Breau and his wife, Connie, of Brewer; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Margaret Clancy of Orono and Kathy Chute of Eddington. She will be remembered by her wonderful card-playing friends. She was predeceased by her husband in 1985; her parents; a son, Robert Breau, in 1999; and by six siblings, John Montgomery, Catherine Clancy, Ethel Corey, Clara Breen, Agnes Sawyer and Patricia Hamilton. Family and friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, South Main Street, Brewer. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. A time of fellowship will be afterward in the parish center.
