BREWER - Nina Catherine White, 88, wife of the late Roger I. White, died July 18, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Bangor, daughter of Fred M. and Hattie (Fenlason) Pulk. Nina attended Brewer schools and graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1938. She was a lifelong resident of Brewer and married her husband, Roger, June 29, 1944. Nina was a member of First Congregational Church, Brewer; past president of South Brewer PTA; past master of Pine Grove Grange No. 233; and past state deputy. She was also a member of Riverside Grange No. 273, Penobscot Pomona, the state and national granges. Nina was a 66-year member and a past matron of Tuscan Chapter No. 148 Order of the Eastern Star, Bangor, and a past appointive grand officer of Grand Chapter of Maine Order of the Eastern Star from 1969 to 1970, and a past president and life member of Sunshine Club for children. She was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the former James A. Taylor Hospital, Bangor, a dedicated volunteer for many years, and she also served on the board of trustees of the hospital for 11 years. Surviving are one son, James Roger White and his wife, Marty, of Holden; one stepgranddaughter, Tifany Lawler of New Hampshire; and two nieces, Gail Pozzuto of New Hampshire and Donna Brown of Florida. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Harley C. Pulk; and one nephew, Brian Pulk. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, pastor of First Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
