Rodney Footman - Class Of 1948

H.  Footman BREWER - H. Rodney Footman, 81, died peacefully Aug. 2, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Bangor, son of Forrest W. and Evangeline B. (Cusack) Footman. Rodney was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1948, and a 1952 graduate of the University of Maine, Orono. Rodney and his late wife, Joyce Tardiff, were the only couple of their high school graduating class to marry each other. They had remained married for more than 50 years until her death in 2002. Rodney followed in his grandfather's and father's footsteps in the family business Footman's Dairy of Brewer, retiring as president in 1986. Throughout his life, he was involved in numerous civic organizations and was a past president of Brewer Kiwanis. He was also a member of St. Andrews Lodge No. 83, AF & AM of Bangor and Anah Shriners. Surviving are his three children, Marla J. Collins and her husband, Dwight, of Bucksport, Rhonda J. Morneault and her partner, Mary Jo Dempsey, of Brewer, and Todd A. Footman of Bradley; five grandchildren, Jason Collins, Darci Wardwell and her husband, John, Aaron Morneault, Nicole and Blaine Footman; one great-granddaughter, Isobel Wardwell; a brother-in-law, Russell McEwen; several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce; one son, Glen H. Footman; and a sister, Myrna L. McEwen. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
