Catherine Kirk (Bligh) - Class Of 1937

BREWER - Catherine "Kay" Evelyn Bligh passed away March 17, 2008, in Mission Texas, under the care of her husband and daughter. She was born April 8, 1919, in Brewer, the daughter of Manley and Catherine (Irving) Kirk. Kay graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1937. She was a very talented cook, seamstress, quilter, artist, homemaker and businesswoman. Kay was a cook at Vine Street and Fairmount schools in the 1950s. Kay and her husband constructed and were proprietors of Towne Lyne Gift Shop, Brewer, which they ran for 24 years. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling in the motor home every winter. Kay was a member and past president of the Zonta Club of Bangor. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Louis Robert Bligh; and her four children, Janice Campbell of Brewer, Robert Bligh and his wife, Anita, of South Dakota, Linda Bligh of Levant, and James Bligh of New Hampshire; daughter-in-law, Georgena Bligh of New York; grandchildren, Karen Campbell of Carrabassett, Amanda Bligh of Providence, R.I., Kate Bligh of Concord, N.H., Sandra Bligh of New York, Michelle Germain of Massachusetts, Tim Campbell of Eddington and Mike Campbell of Brewer; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
