Adaline Folsom (Hill) - Class Of 1935

Adaline  HillWILBRAHAM, Mass. - Adaline (Folsom) Hill, 93, died peacefully Feb. 25, 2012, at home. She was born March 23, 1918, in Bangor, the only daughter of Emery T. and Mary (Lincoln) Folsom. She was raised on the family farm on Eastern Avenue, Brewer, where she attended local schools and was a member of the 1935 graduating class of Brewer High School. She then attended Gilman Commercial School and graduated from Eastern State Normal School in 1940. She went on to teach school in East Holden, Greenville and Buckfield. When she and Albert became parents, she devoted her life to her family. They all had many happy years living throughout the U.S., in Okinawa and Panama during Albert's military career. After Albert's retirement, Mrs. Hill resumed her teaching career and taught for many years in the Brewer school system, retiring in 1979. Mrs. Hill was an active and devoted member of First Congregational Church, Brewer, for more than 60 years. Among her former memberships were Homemaker's Club, Volunteer Circle of King's Daughters and Sons, and Brewer Garden and Bird Club. Mrs. Hill is survived by her son, Charles and his wife, Laurie, of Wilbraham, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Hill of Bangor; grandsons, James Hill and his wife, Sarah, and Christopher Hill and his wife, Michelle; granddaughters, Robyn Dahlgren and her husband, Michael, Mary Hill and her husband, Jose, and Jennifer Hill; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Penny Folsom of Cumberland; two nieces, Mrs. Sharon Jellison of Brewer, and Darlene Field and John of Cumberland, and their children and grandchildren; a very dear friend, Jane Pierce of Bangor; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; her oldest son, Emery Folsom Hill of Brewer; two brothers, Lincoln C. Folsom of Newport and Marshall E. Folsom of Brewer; and a nephew, Thomas J. Folsom of Newport. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at First Congregational Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett presiding. The family invites all to share a time of remembrance and fellowship after the service in the vestry. Interment will be held in the spring at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
