BREWER and MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Evelyn Emery died peacefully Jan. 9, 2013, at Grand Islander Nursing Home, Middletown, R.I. Born Oct. 22, 1919, in Brewer, she was the daughter of the late Milton E. and Susan (Dinsmore) Connor.

She was graduated from Brewer High School in 1936. Through the years she was a member of First United Church, Brewer, Brewer Garden Club, Athena Club and Brewer Historical Society. She was a cook for the Brewer School System and upon retirement she volunteered many hours at the former Brewer Nursing Home and Eastern Maine Medical Center.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard H. Emery; three brothers, Winston, Vernon and Edward Connor; sister, Althea Morrill; and grandson, Jeffery Cotton. Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Judy Emery Cotton and her husband, Percy, of Cohoes, N.Y.; a daughter, Cheryl Emery Martin and her husband, Richard, of Portsmouth, R.I.; and a son, Richard H. Emery and his wife, Sharon, of Canon City, Colo. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at First United Methodist Church, 40 South Main St., Brewer. Interment will be afterward at Dean Hill Cemetery, Orrington.
