Largo, FL - Dick died peacefully on February 26, 2017, in Largo, Florida. He was born in Brewer on August 11, 1941, son of Linwood and Gladys (Graves) Colby.
Dick graduated from Brewer High School in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart, Delight Linda (Stinson) Colby in 1961. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. After owning Stanley's Drive-In Restaurant in South Brewer during the late 1960's, Dick worked many arduous years as a contractor and carpenter building several homes and luxury condominiums throughout the central and coastal regions of Maine.
Dick is survived by his wife, Delight Linda (Stinson) Colby of 55 years; four children, Candy Wood, Chris Colby, Kimberlee Barclay, and Craig Colby and wife, Tina; six grandchildren, Joshua, Kristin, Erin, Garrett, Ryder, and Reese; and two great-grandchildren, Thierry and Sadie. Dick is preceded by his parents and his only sister, Linda Crowley.
Dick enjoyed watching Red Sox baseball and Black Bear ice hockey, listening to the Oldies, and enjoying an occasional Coffee Pot sandwich and Maine whoopie pie.
A private graveside memorial service will be held later this summer at Woodlawn Cemetery in Brewer.
