BREWER - Edwina (Colpitts) Arnold, 84, wife of the late Roy L. Arnold, died April 1, 2011, at a Bangor assisted living facility. She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Charleston. She attended Brewer schools and was a member of Holden Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. After graduation from high school, Edwina worked at Freese's department store, W.T. Grants Department Store and as a secretary for Williston Supply Co. After the birth of her children she stayed home to raise her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite pastimes were making dolls, knitting, attending ceramic classes with her family and friends, and finding a treasure at a yard sale. Edwina is survived by two daughters, Janet Blackwell of Old Town and Nora and her husband, Donald Riley, of Brewer; three grandchildren, April and her husband, Matthew Goodine, of Old Town, and their children, Amanda, Devin Mycheal and wife, Hallie Goodine, and daughter, Julia; Jay Blackwell of Sarasota, Fla.; and Brooke and husband, Adam McLaughlin, of Hampden; two stepgrandchildren, David Riley and wife, Diane, of Massachusetts, and their children, Jordan, Tyler and Jacob; and Tracy Jordan of Brewer, and her children, Spencer and Riley; a sister, Maxine Freese of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of 55 years, she was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Colpitts; son-in-law, Shady Blackwell Jr.; four nieces, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and her beloved cat, Smokey. Edwina's family thanks the staff at Winterberry Heights for their kindness, friendship and excellent care. A graveside service will be held this spring at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington.
