Urban Dyer - Class Of 1957

Urban A. DyerCarmel and Largo, Fla. - Urban A. Dyer, 81, was born on September 5, 1938, in Brewer, Maine, and passed away just 4 days shy of his 82nd birthday on September 1, 2020, at his residence in Carmel, Maine, surrounded by loved ones.
Urban was an enthusiastic traveler on his Harley Davidson and had visited most of the 50 states. In the spring of 1974, he and several Law Enforcement Officers from Bangor, met and formed a local motorcycle club. Today, the Blue Knights have approximately 65 chapters, 19,500+ members in 11 conferences within 29 counties. Urban also received the keys to two cities due to his love for law enforcement.
Urban was a man with varied interests and talents. After completing his time in the Marine Corps, Urban continued on with the Penobscot County Sheriffs Department and Brewer Police Department. He left Law Enforcement to start his own business as an entrepreneur with U.A. Dyer and Sons Transport and eventually retired from Dysarts Transportation in Hermon, Maine.
Urban is survived by two sisters, Beverly and her husband, Richard, and Janice and her husband, John; his sons, Urban (Skip) Jr. and his wife, Laura, Craig and his wife, Tonya, and Ryan; his daughters, Carol and husband, Don, Vickie and Sarah; several grandkids. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie. His extended family Susan, Kirk and Kim. Special friend and Blue Knight Brother Chuck Shuman and his wife, Kris. Also, special friends, Bonnie Tonin and Kim Spinner.
Those wishing to remember Urban in a special way please send donations to Blue Knights International, 38 Alden St., Bangor, ME 04401, who in turn will use the money towards building the new Museum of Memorabilia for the Blue Knights.
A celebration of life will be held 12-2 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Urban's residence, 332 Plymouth Rd., Carmel, ME 04419.
