Michael Henderson - Class Of 1973

Michael A. HendersonBangor - Michael A. Henderson, 69, passed away in his sleep on March 19, 2024. He was born October 13, 1954, the son of Frank and Vivian (Gallant) Henderson. Mike grew up in Brewer, graduating from Brewer High School in 1973. He was a proud member of the 1970 Class A State Football Championship Team.
An overall athlete, Mike also participated in basketball, baseball and track. He was a member of Key Club, B-Club, and The Trident. He later went on to referee basketball and football. Mike was always up for a game of cribbage or golf, whether it be on the links or mini golf. He worked for Nissen Baking Company for several years before beginning his career at Bangor Hydro Electric Company, He began reading meters in Ellsworth, and then worked his way up to becoming a lineman, retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Bangor Elks #244 and served as Exalted Ruler from 2013-2014.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Susan Bennett and her husband, Jason, of Bucksport, Tracey Sparagis of California, and Nicole Tucker and her husband, Shawn, of Hermon; and three grandchildren, Emma and Eli Bennett and Jackson Tucker. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Collins and husband, Robert, of Northport, FL, and Michele Rowles and husband, Darryl, of Brewer. He is also survived by his aunt, Valerie Buchanan of Bradley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Frank, in 1991, and his mother, Vivian, in 2023.
The family would like to thank Laurie and the wonderful staff at The Country Villa Retirement Home in Bangor where Mike lived since June 2023. He talked often of the field trips and activities he participated in.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately following at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. Weather permitting, burial will follow the reception at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
