BANGOR and BREWER - Dorothy Ellen Albert, 82, died March 22, 2009, at a Brewer health care center. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Everett H. and Alice E. (Thomson) Hodgins. Ellen was a 1945 graduate of Brewer High School and worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a switchboard operator, retiring after many years. She served on the board of Brewer Housing Authority and was a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Brewer. Ellen was also involved in the Meals For Me Program, Brewer. Surviving are one daughter, Jo-Ellen Albert of Bangor; one brother, Ned Hodgins Sr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Bangor; a brother-in-law, Richard Rogerson of Orono; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Val Joseph Albert; two sisters, Sally Lambert and Marcia Rogerson; and a brother, Jamie Hodgins. She will be remembered by a dear friend, Betty Pittman of Bangor. A service in honor of Ellen's life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, with the Pastor Sarah Pringle, presiding.
