Barbara Merrill (Kimball) - Class Of 1942

Barbara  KimballBREWER - Barbara E. Kimball, 86, wife of the late Wilfred Kimball, passed away May 1, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Bangor, the only child of Charles and Madeline (Thompson) Merrill. Barbara was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1942. She was a lifelong citizen of Brewer and a member of First Congregational Church of Brewer since 1947. Barbara was also a member of Volunteer Circle of Kings Daughters and volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital for 13 years. She is survived by her son, John Kimball and wife, Priscilla, of Holden; her daughter, Janet Kimball of Brewer; daughter-in-law, Ruth Kimball of Orrington; two grandchildren, Lisa Kimball of Old Town and William Kimball of Brewer; stepgranddaughter, Angela and her husband, Tom Unger, of Seattle; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Nathan, Anthony, Silas and Hazel; sister-in-law, Jackie Kimball of Falmouth; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, James Kimball; and special cousin, Charlotte Cross. Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, May 5, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett and Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, immediately after the service. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer, after the reception.
