John McLaughlin - Class Of 1939

John  McLaughlin  Sr.BANGOR AND BUCKSPORT - John Frederick McLaughlin Sr., 92, died Sept. 27, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Brewer, son of William R. and Ella M. (Pettie) McLaughlin.

John was a graduate of Brewer High School and lettered in baseball, basketball and football. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. John had formerly been employed at Eastern Fine Paper Co., Brewer; New England Pipe and Supply Co., Bangor; and in more recent years, he and his wife, Celia, owned and operated Pine Shore Motel, East Orland.

Surviving are three children, Janice Winchester and her husband, Philip, of East Orland, John "Jack" McLaughlin Jr. of Oregon and Jody Storey and her husband, Patrick, of Brewer; seven grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth, Thomas, Joelyn, Jennifer, Rachel and Jill; several great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Genevra Chute of Bucksport and Judy Murray of Hampden; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Celia; a brother, Harold; and sister, Maxine Duffey.
