BANGOR - Catherine Marie Travis, 92, passed away Oct. 31, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Bangor, daughter of Wallace A. and C. Ella (Stockwell) Gould. Kay was educated in the public schools of Bangor and Brewer, and at Maine School of Commerce, now Husson University. She was employed at Brewer City Hall as a clerk-typist until her marriage to Arnold J. Travis, in 1940. During her lifetime, Kay had been a member of First Methodist Church, Brewer; The Carter Memorial Church, Needham, Mass.; Woodfords Congregational Church, Portland; and a long time member of All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor. She was also a member of Se Beowulf English Honor Society at Brewer High School and Epsilon Tau Epsilon sorority at Maine School of Commerce. Her presence will be sorely missed. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Arnold J. Travis; one son, John A. Travis and wife, Suzanne, of Orrington; one daughter, Mary E. Travis of Florida; four grandchildren, Rebecca Grant and husband, Doug, of Hampden, Emily Travis of Orrington, Patrick and Jason Quinn of South Portland; a great-grandson, Patrick Quinn Jr.; a special sister-in-law, Ethelyn Travis; and a special niece, Caroline Tulley, both of Bangor. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Marie Travis. Plans for funeral services will be announced at a later date.
