Geneva Hodgkins (Sansom) - Class Of 1932

 BANGOR and BREWER - Geneva (Hodgkins) Harnum Sansom, 93, died March 6, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. Born April 25, 1915, in Brewer, she was the daughter of George G. and Alice (McKinley) Hodgkins. She was a graduate of Brewer High School and Delor Beauty School, working as a hairdresser for many years. Geneva owned her own shop for 10 years. Geneva was a member of First Congregational Church, Brewer; Brewer Garden Club and Kings Daughters, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and volunteering her time at Brewer Rehab. and Living Center. She resided at Bangor Nursing and Rehab. Center for the past three years, but was a resident of Brewer most of her life. Surviving are a son, Richard B. Harnum and his wife, Linda, of Holden; a daughter, Susan H. Hamilton and her husband, Brik, of Clinton; four grandchildren, Keeley L. Harnum of Bangor, Richard B. Harnum Jr. and his fiancee, Courtney Madden, of Hermon, Christine Hamilton and Jennifer Hamilton, both of Clinton; stepson, Charles L. Sansom III and his wife, Gracia, of Plano, Texas; stepgrandchildren, David Sansom and Elizabeth S. Lunkenheimer of Plano, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Sally A. Clifford and her husband, Paul, of Leominster, Mass., David K. Harnum and his wife, Kathy, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Donald James Harnum and his wife, Connie, of Selinsgrove, Pa. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, James Earle Harnum; and her second husband, Charles L. Sansom Jr. We'd like to express our special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehab. for the loving care and kindness that were given to our mother and family for the past three years. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service will be held 1 p.m. with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, pastor of First Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. Spring interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
