BREWER - Ralph D. Fraser, 83, died peacefully Feb. 22, 2011, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital, after a short illness. He was born April 7, 1927, in Brewer, son of Ralph and Helen (Rice) Fraser. Ralph graduated from Brewer High School in 1945 and then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He worked for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut, and then worked for Eastern Auto for 10 years before starting his own business, Twin City Auto Supply that he ran for more than 45 years. Ralph was a longtime member of Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217, AF & AM, Orrington, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32 Degree and became a member of Anah Shriners in 1980. He joined the Drum and Bugle Corps and was captain for nine years, and was also director of units for four years. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen (Farwell) Fraser; two sons, Don Fraser and his wife, Tania, and Scott Fraser, all of Brewer; his sister and husband, Jackie and Jerry Hayes of Brewer; four granddaughters, Caitlin, Cassidy, Madison and Tisha; his great-granddaughter, Katie; his sister-in-law and husband, Ginny and Jim Weaver of Scarborough; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 S. Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall immediately after the service. Interment will be this spring.
