Paul Libby - Class Of 1947

Paul  LibbyBREWER and BANGOR - Paul W. Libby, 84, died July 3, 2011, at a Bangor health care center. He was born March 15, 1927, in Brewer, son of Clarence P. and Augusta (Craig) Libby. Paul was a graduate of Brewer High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a well-known sales representative for more than 41 years with Westinghouse Electric Supply Co., Bangor office. Paul was a well-respected high school football official and also coached baseball. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golf as well as hunting and fishing. Paul held life memberships in St. Andrews Lodge No. 83 AF & AM, Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Bangor and Anah Shriners. He was also a life member of American Legion Post, Madeira Beach, Fla., and a member of Bangor Lodge of Elks No. 244. Surviving are his friend and companion for many years, Marion M. French of Brewer; three sons, Ronald Libby and Willow of Orrington, James T. Libby and his wife, Diana, of Seminole, Fla., and David A. Libby and his wife, Susan, of Tilton, N.H.; three grandsons, Ronnie, Jonathan Paul and Christopher James; several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Joan G.; infant son, James Robert; and three brothers, Clarence, George and Wilder. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call noon until time of service Thursday.
