Emma Street (Spox) - Class Of 1931

Emma  Spox BREWER - Emma E. Spox, 98, died peacefully Aug. 17, 2010, at a local nursing home with her loving son, Jimmy, by her side. She was born July 18, 1912, in Bangor, daughter of Matthew and Katherine (McPhee) Street. Emma's life was centered around caring for her family. Emma lived her entire life in South Brewer, graduating from Brewer High School, and working at Standard Packaging and Eastern Fine Paper. She lived at home until age 89, and then resided at Eastside Rehabilitation until her death. Emma's motto was "do it right" and if you didn't, she would let you know. Everyone who knew her had an Emma story. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Emma was predeceased by her father and mother; her husband, John; her four daughters, Jeanine, Geneva, Janet and Lanie; two brothers, Fred and William; three sisters, Annie, Winona and Maude; and five infant brothers and sisters. Surviving are her two sons, John R. Spox and his wife, Ellen, of Levant, and James M. Spox of Brewer; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Judy Street of Brewer; and her many friends at Eastside Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Oak Hill Cemetery, South Main Street, Brewer - take Maple Street to Winter Street. After the service, the family invites all to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
