NORTH BERWICK and BREWER - Charlotte Elizabeth (Salisbury) Daly, 87, died Dec. 11, 2010, at Varney Crossing Nursing Home, North Berwick. She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Eddington, daughter of Howard V. and Julia Ruth (Higgins) Salisbury. Charlotte graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1941. After graduation she attended Maine School of Commerce - now Husson College. Upon completion of her education, Charlotte worked as a bookkeeper for Rice and Miller until her marriage in 1951. Charlotte married William Howard "Bill" Daly and they settled in her family home in Brewer. They shared 55 years of marriage prior to Bill's death in 2006. They enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors, and traveled extensively during the 1980s and 1990s. Charlotte was a loyal member of King's Daughters, was a Cub Scout den mother for Pack 11, actively encouraging her son's attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 1, a dedicated election day volunteer, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, F.D. Williams Chapter, and an avid gardener. She enjoyed tent camping and travel. In her later years she was a proficient maker of handmade crocheted articles and she greatly enjoyed crafting. Charlotte loved dogs. In the last decade she devoted much of her time and energy as caregiver to her husband during his lengthy final illness. She is survived by her son, Jay H. Daly of Somersworth, N.H.; and leaves behind numerous friends and neighbors who were a central part of her life during her 80 years on Holyoke Street, Brewer. Services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
