Olive Hatfield (Parsons) - Class Of 1946

BREWER - Olive Kaye (Hatfield) Parsons, 80, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Orrington, the daughter of Clifford Kaye Hatfield and Olive Fleming (Tolman). Kaye attended Orrington schools and graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1946. She attended Gorham State Teachers College, now the University of Maine -Gorham. She was a member of Sunshine Club for Children, Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary and was recognized on the Voluntary Honor Board at Eastern Maine Medical Center for her many years of volunteer service. Kaye will be sadly missed by her very dear, devoted husband of 61 years, Raymond G. Parsons of Brewer. She also leaves her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Angela K. and Norman Dirksen of Augusta, Cynthia M. and Alan Lear of Damariscotta and Mary Ellen and Michael Voisine of Brewer. She is survived as well by her adored grandchildren, Melissa K. and husband, Bill Hixon, of Augusta, Stephen G. Dirksen and wife, Karen, of Chesapeake, Va., Alex A. Lear of Damariscotta and William M. Voisine and friend, Brandis Grier, of Brewer; and her great-grandsons, Christian G.M. Denis, who has given her such joy and Donald and William Hixon Jr. of Augusta. She was predeceased by two brothers and their wives, Lloyd D. and Nina Hatfield, and William Barr and Eloise Hatfield; two sisters, Margaret R. Danforth and Elsie H. Dunn. Kaye was never happier than when she was surrounded by her treasured family, who gave her such great pleasure. Her family was blessed to have Nanny Kaye for so many years as a part of their lives. She also spent many happy summer evenings in her yard with her dear friends and neighbors. Those times were very special to her. Kaye's family wishes to thank the Community Health and Counseling Service Hospice Program staff and volunteers for their many hours of support and comfort for her and her family, as well as the staff of Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care of Kaye during her last days. "I would like my service to be a festive occasion, as God has truly blessed me, he gave me all of you. I thank you all for making my life so complete, and such a joyful one. I will see you again, all of you, someday." Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Committal will be held after the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
