Old Town - "Today God took our mother home to be where only Angels roam. To keep her safe from any harm and straight into our father's arms." Marjorie Ruth (Vereault) Lacadie passed away on May 9, 2024, at the age of 96.
She was born in Brewer, Maine on March 4, 1928, daughter of George and Villa (Gray) Vereault. She graduated from Brewer High School Class of '46, where she was active in many sports, basketball, softball, and cheering were among a few. She was also a Majorette. She was very proud of her job as a telephone operator in Bangor, and used to tell stories of connecting numerous family members at the same time so they could talk together. She married the love of her life, Richard F. Lacadie, on April 26, 1947, and together they raised seven children until his passing in 1989.
Marge worked for the Old Town High School system serving lunch to the many children who attended the schools in the district. She also worked for the University of Maine and was one of the first employees at the Meadows Assisted Living Home in Old Town. Her most rewarding job was the raising of her seven children.
She was a Communicate of the Holy Family Parish in Old Town, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and a member of the Red Hatters. She loved Bingo, the slots, going on the Cyr Bus trips with her friends, and family get-togethers, especially at the Belfast Park.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Ronald) Dupuis of Old Town, Yvette "Honey" Brown of Old Town, and Colleen (Keith) Fowler of Greenbush; her sons, Richard (Anita) of Milford, Donald (Linda) of Winterport, Stephen (Mary) of Milford and Florida, Reginald of Milford. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Charles Vereault of Orono; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son-in-law, David Brown; daughter-in-law, Diane Lacadie; sisters, Margret Vereault, Cecile (Leroy) MacDonald, Dorothy (Albert) Lavoie; her brothers, Donald (Mary Anne) Vereault, George (Amanda) Vereault; sister-in-law, Patsy Vereault; and in-laws, Dorthy (George) Boucher, Norma Jean (Pete) Pettorossi, Lorraine (Albert) Tidwell, Patricia (Roger) Parent, Harold (Dawn) Lacadie, Germaine (Thomas) Nadeau.
Graveside services will be on Monday, May 13, at St. Joseph's Cemetery at 2 p.m.
