Hampton, NH - Frank A. Grant, 90, passed peacefully on October 15, 2024, in Hampton, NH, following a long illness. The son of Alma and Willis Grant, he was born in Orrington, Maine.
He attended Brewer (Maine) schools, graduating as class salutatorian from Brewer High School, class of 1952. He went on to graduate from University of Maine at Orono with a degree in chemistry and was a member of TKE fraternity. A born entrepreneur, he was a salesman, real estate agent and owner of several businesses, including Bangor Home Decorating Center. A long-time resident of Bangor, Maine, he was active in the community serving in his children's PTA and was a member of the Bangor Noontime Kiwanis Club, serving a term as president. A lifelong sports fan, he was the treasurer of the Maine Lumberjacks, a semi-pro basketball team, and owned two shares of the Boston Celtics when it was a publicly held company.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nancy Grant; and sister, Grace Kinney and wife, Esther. He is survived by his wife, Kay; brother, James (Nancy) Grant; son, Michael (Patrice) Grant; daughter, Lynda (Deryn) LaCombe; stepchildren, Cathy Craig, Jeanne (Richard) Darcy, and Nancy (Dave) Dulong; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A wonderful man known for his sense of humor, holiday lobster feeds, love of family, sports, and food, he will be missed.
Services to be held on Saturday, November 9, at 1 p.m. at Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter, NH. An interment ceremony will be held at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery in Bangor, Maine, on a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Oceanside Center in Hampton, NH, for their excellent care.
