Kathleen passed away Dec. 4, 2016, at her Eddington home. She was born in Orrington on Feb. 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Mary and Benjamin B. MacEwen.
She attended school in Orrington and Brewer and she was married to Albert Bud Mitchell on Dec. 23, 1942, in Brewer, by Pastor Gleason in the Congregational Church Parsonage. She was a devoted member of the Clifton United Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She also belonged to the Eddington Extension, Eddington Historical Society and Comins Hall. She always donated a pie when it was needed. She loved to travel to Prince Edward Island every summer for years and go to the couples camp at Beech Hill Pond. Kathleen worked for Custom Management at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute College for 19 years. Her hobbies included knitting, making quilts and having family reunions at her home.
In addition to her husband, Kay leaves three children, Mary DAmboise, Warren Mitchell and Norman and his wife, Susan; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Caldwell of Portland, and a special friend, Catherine Ericson, of 19 years. Her parents and brothers and sisters predeceased her, John, Maynard, Beatty, Gordon, Hazel, Edward and Isabelle.
A memorial service honoring Kay's life will be held 3 PM Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at the Clifton United Baptist Church, 742 Airline Road, Clifton with the Rev. John P. Walsh, officiating. A time of fellowship will be immediately afterward.
