Yeah!!! We are under 100 now that havent signed up, that is great! I know there are more out there, but it is just a matter if they are interested or not. Way to go everyone on trying to get up with our classmates! It is only June, so we have quite a bit of time to catch up with everyone, but for only being on here for about 30-45days, we have done very good!! 68 total now accounted for!

(well according to the news article-we had 176 graduate with us so Im gonna check out who is missing)

Patti and Missy, I love that you mentioned the 80's hair. I am almost to0 embarrassed to look at pictures of myself, because of my hair. As tall as I am I am surprised I made it through the doorway sometimes.lol WHAT THE HECK WAS UP WITH THAT! I know it was common in the 80's but yuk. I only wish someone would have invinted or promoted the Straitening Iron rather than that hideous "crimp iron" that was popular then.
I still love the 80's music too! Also now that it's 2008 the early 90's brings back so many memories. I don't really listen to it much any more but Pear Jam is still my fav. I still watch Dirty Dancing everytime it is on!

Deanna Houser (Grayson)

Lara! Remember that time that I came to your house & you had rented "Dirty Dancing" and we watched it about 4 times that weekend?? And we also watched that Rick Springfield movie "Hard to Hold" and watched it over & over.........Funny stuff

Lara Smith (Miller)

Oh my Gosh how could I forget. And "Hard to Hold" that was our favorite wasn't it. Also, what an awesome surprise it was a couple of years ago when you sent me the Rick Springfield's greatest hits CD. I loved it! Excellent 80's Music! I still listen to it. Jessie's Girl will never get old.

Wow, Jessie's Girl never gets old?

Where can I find a woman like that?

Ah yeah, I'm sure Donna is asking the same thing about a man.

06/20/08 08:14 AM #167

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

Well I guess I am in charge of lining up the DJ for the reunion so I will have to make sure they can play Jessie's Girl for everyone to sing to!!! And of course we can't forget some Michael Jackson songs......you know they were great back when he was a black man, unlike now that he is a white woman!!! hehehehehe

that's TOO funny!
hey, Angie! remember the Rick Springfield concert?!?! we were.. what? 11,12? we screamed & cried like it was Elvis! who was with us?
my very first concert.. i love telling that story. i get teased for it, too.. why couldn't it have been Ratt..? or.. Lionel Richie?! or.. Men at Work? (!! ok, nevermind..!!)

06/20/08 09:52 AM #169

Angela Gilbert (Walden)

My God I loved that concert, as far as we were concerned, he was our Elvis!! It was GREAT and I think we were 12!! A friend of mine at work just went to a Rick Springfield concert, I would have loved to have gone with her.

Well I am thoroughly excited that Jeff Dunham and his puppets will be coming nearby. I cant wait to go! I love me some Peanut!!!

On Michael Jackson, his old stuff is still awesome, Mom and Dad took me and Lesley to see Michael when he was in Knoxville, I have to say the concert was awesome!

Kristin Siegfried (Gerrety)

Stephanie Crockett and I went to Micheal Jackson as well. My god, we looked like whores dressed in mini skirts, lace, high heels, and BIG hair. We were about as far away as we could get in that football stadium, it could have been Rick Springfield for all we could see. We thought we were soooo cool.

06/20/08 09:36 PM #171

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

Oh yes, I was at the Michael Jackson concert too, oh my that was in 1984, it really doesn't seem like 24 years ago!!! I have still got all of my memorabilia too.....maybe I should try to sell that stuff on ebay....hmmmmmm

Hey does anyone remember what Heather Hall's middle name was? I was trying to do a search on her and don't ya know, there are TONS of Heather Hall's!!!

Angela Gilbert (Walden)

You guys remember the movie "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" from 1985, I always loved that movie, and I had to buy it when I found it about 3 years ago. I watched it again last night and I still love it! Talk about a blast in the past, it reminded me of how we all had weird clothes, big hair, and had all kinds of fun! I think that is really the only think that I really liked Sarah Jessica Parker in besides "The First Wives Club".

Plus with the mega horror fans that Ed and I are, we have almost every horror movie that was made back when we were in school! Our collection grows bigger and bigger all the time.

I hate that the description of the reunion says that a DJ will be there playing the "Oldies".

I hope he (or she) is not planning on playing any Benny Goodman or Dizzy Gillespie .

'80's music isn't the Oldies! It is still the "Youngies". Pffft. >:P

I went to college with Heather Hall, she was in my sorority at William and Mary. I'll have to look and see if I can find info on her. I lost my Alumni directory when we moved last year. Last I thought, she was a teacher somewhere in eastern or northern Virginia. I think.

06/21/08 10:31 PM #176

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

Thanks Kristin, let me know if you find anything. With all the research I did on her name I did find Heather Jennette Hall and a Heather Jenetta Hall. And if one of these people is really her I didn't find a married name at all.

And Rob, I totally agree with you.....the 80's music is definately not oldies!!! I hate to hear on the radio or VH1 that the classic rock is Bon Jovi, Motley Crue or Whitesnake!!!

Shannon Morefield

Hey Patti....for some reason, I was thinking that Heather's middle name was Suzanne....I could be wrong but I think it is!!

Hi Everyone,

Was the PayPal account ever set up or do I need to send a check in? Either way is fine - just wondering? Is a donation being collected for the picnic?

Angela - I love the horror films of the 80s. Horror has never been done with such a sense of humor. April Fool's Day beat Scream to the punch by about a decade. And there were tons of other cheesy, fun flicks like Waxwork. Yet there were a lot of great darker films coming from the likes of Argento, Fulci, Carpenter, and Clive Barker. Great decade for horror!

06/26/08 10:00 AM #180

Patti Silcox (Hubbard)

Well dang people, everyone is so quiet lately!!!

06/26/08 03:00 PM #181

Angela Gilbert (Walden)

Yeah Will, 80's Horror was great. I miss some of that genuine horror. I am sick to death of these remakes. The only exception was Rob Zombie's Halloween, it wasn't really a remake, it was Robs take on the original. It gave a more in depth look into Michael, it was so much better! Argento was supposed to be at the convention last year, but canceled out. George Romero even started petitions on the back of his pics that he got everyone to sign at the con. We even got to have our own little private chat with him after the Night of the Living Dead movie shown in the big theater in the original 35mm viewing. I can't wait till the next one. We have some friends in the Indie circuit in Texas that have had some really awesome work come out in the past several years.

Well I see that the announcement for the JSB Class of 88 Photobucket was deleted. So, for all of you new people that have signed up, go to
http://photobucket.com/jsbclassof1988
to see the pictures that we have uploaded of ourselves and our other classmates. If you have pictures that you would like to upload of our class, the password is reunion. We are going to take all the pics we get and load it onto a DVD to show at the reunion in September. Talk about some fun!

So go check it out, see how "COOL" we were back then and upload some of your own!! There are some really great pics there.

Cool. I love Romero's work too. A filmmaker from Austin flew in for Cape Fear Independent Film Festival this May (which my wife Jenn directed). We also talked with Tom Savini about doing an effects makeup demonstration, but there was a schedule conflict.

I saw the question about donations for the picnic.
I am currently checking on corporate donations for either money or food before moving to asking for more money from everyone.
It is really important for everyone signup for the picnic as soon as possible so we can determine how much food will be needed.

I am certainly open to suggestions about preferance for food for the picnic.

I was thinking that we would solict donations, then either ask if you would like to pay a set amount or do a potluck meal.

Let me know

Hey Will,

The pictures I uploaded to the photobucket site were all real low-rez versions. If you want any of the ones I put up (I'm sure you know which ones they were) in higher rez for whatever it is that you're doing with them, let me know and I'll email them to you.

OK. I will let you know. Thanks.
