Brian "Stoney" Mitchell, 46, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 16, 2010 in Brockton.

Brian was born on August 12, 1964 in Portland, Maine to parents Elliott Mitchell and Sandra (Upham) Mitchell. He lived in Portland until the age of 3, then moved to Rhode Island until the age of 6 and finally to Brockton where he resided until his death. Brian graduated from Brockton High School in 1982 and played football for the Brockton Raiders Pop Warner Football for four years.

After high school he graduated from New England Tractor Trailer Driving School in Rhode Island. His hobbies were sports, working on cars, and driving in demolition derbies at the Brockton Fair. Brian worked two years as a driver for WDI in Brockton and two years at Isam Mitchell before finding a home at the Campello Front End Shop, where he stayed until he lost the use of his legs.

He is survived by his parents, Elliott and Sandra Mitchell of Rockport, Maine; his sisters, Leslie Mitchell of Rockport and Kim Wilson and her husband Bob of Brockton; his uncle, James Baker and his wife Christine of Brockton; his nephews, Robert "BJ" Albon, Ryan Wilson and Randy Wilson of Brockton; he is also survived by several cousins and his friends at Hill Street Housing. A special thanks goes out from the family to four friends who were there to help Brian in his times of need, Wayne Cook, Kevin Harkins, Stacy Lawson and Shawn Sullivan. Brian is also survived by a special girl in his life for 16 years, Jessica Shawmitz and her two children David and Cassandra. Brian was predeceased by his grandparents, Llewllyn and Willette Mitchell of Bar Harbor Maine and Russell and Dorothy Upham of Rockport Maine, and Aunt Patrica Martino of Florida.
