Debbie Duke Carter

Mike and I have been married for 14 years. We met my senior year of college. Mike is currently the assistant police chief in Sand Springs. Can you believe I married a cop? Trust me that was
a shock to me as well. You'd think that I had enough of that as a kid. Actually my dad was still a cop at the time and he was livid! Now they are the best of friends. Funny how God sees the humor in giving you exactly what you swore you never wanted! By the way, whoever was on the yearbook staff that put a full size shot of my dad giving someone a ticket deserves to be tazered! I could have just died when I first saw that.

I received my M.Ed. in Speech Pathology in 1995. I worked in the public schools for 8 years then moved on to working in adult rehab. When Emma started kindergarten I was given the gift of being employed at the elementary school that my children attend. I am now able to mix my love of working with kids and my love of the medical end of my profession as well. We house a multi-handicapped classroom and an autism room at my site. (I also still work geriatric rehab on the side. It definitely keeps me grounded to what is important in life.) My son, Zach, is also involved with my students and volunteers to help them at special olympics on our unified softball team. We also take our students to a special needs camp twice a year. It's an addiction that I dearly love.

My 'PRIDE" family will always be very near and dear to my heart! I know we weren't thought to be anywhere near cool. Those of you who thought that missed out on the greatest family there could have been. Just wish I had slowed the drama enough to enjoy it more!!
