Went to the U. of Arkansas for a year. GPA was so bad, I joined the Army Reserves and went to Basic and AIT the summer after freshman year. Re-enrolled at Arkansas the following spring, married (Brenda Wilton '90) and had my son, Tyler (in '91). Divorced shortly thereafter. Finished school in '93 and stayed for another two years for an MA. Remarried, adopted my wife's daughter (born '89) and went to Duke for graduate school. Got an MS in statistics ('99) and PhD in sociology ('01). Took a job as an assistant professor of sociology at Princeton. Divorced in '04 and married Barbara in July '05. Promoted to full professor in '11. Stayed at Princeton until 2014 and took a job at Duke to get away from the crowded northeast. I teach statistics and study health, mortality, and statistical methods. Exciting stuff.
