Susie and I were high school buddies and college freshman roommates at Whitewater. We had incredible amounts of fun and crazieness together in the good old days. I will cherish the memories we made, but always regret that we didn't get together later as we had said we would. My sympathies to her family. Your mom was a terrific amount of fun!
Sue and I only connected at the 45th Reunion and afterward on Facebook while sharing the grief of losing our husbands within months of each other. I will miss chatting with her on FB and talking about a possible visit in the next year or two. Gone too soon!
I am very sad to hear about Sue. My memories of her are only good ones. She always made me laugh. Sue was a neighbor, classmate and alumni of Whitewater. I have just reitred after 35 years as a school principal and teacher.. Rick and I will keep her family and all those who loved her in our thoughts and prayers.

I think I had my first cigarette with Sue on the playground at Brookfield Elem #4....or maybe that was Mary!
Oh, so sad! I was just thinking of Sue...my birthday was on Saturday and hers was on Tuesday! (There must be a reason as to why I did not post H B on her 'class site' or send her an email directly?? God has a plan.) Sue and I had reconnected at the 45th reunion, wondering why we had not stayed in touch? Last February a daughter/fam (Wonderful, pretty, young lady/husband/two precious grandchildren...Sue was beaming with pride, and the feeling was mutual.) brought Sue to Deerfield Beach--the next city south of me--for a long weekend. I believe that the intent was to get her out of Chicago's winter for a bit plus a diversion from thinking of Bob. We had a wonderful, three-hour breakfast....c'mon, you know how women can talk??!! She talked about spending more time in FL. My husband, Jack, grew up in the same area of Chicago where Sue lived...they had much to talk about at the reunion. (In fact, Sue's grandchildren go to the same Catholic grade school that Jack went to...Saint John Fisher.) We had planned on getting together with her on a future trip to Chicago. Many fun memories of Sue at BCHS, the reunion, and our breakfast! What a loss for her family....and all of us! Be well, classmates!
I didn't know Sue very well in high school, but we knew each other well enough to say hello in the halls. The Pep Club use to put paper cut-outs on our lockers on varsity game days, and I remember she used to sign mine. It made me feel good. I was reminded of that support when I noticed she would "like" things I posted on Facebook. Almost always. Sometimes she would comment, and we occasionally would talk online. It turned out we had both been special education teachers in Chicago and knew some of the same people. We talked about what that was like and how burned out we got doing that kind of work. We figured we would have been good drinking buddies during that time in our lives. The last time she emailed me she said, "We should have talked more in high school." It was just a nice thing to say - but that's just the way Sue Chaffin was. I've not seen her since the day we graduated, but I'll miss her.

Where do I begin to write about my fond memories of my dear friend, Sue? Among the memories are:
riding the bus to school together each day
Attending every football and basketball game as part of the Pep Club, followed by the dance in the cafeteria
our overnights with Cindy Freer and Gail Tschudy,
cold pizza for breakfast
bushwhacking at George Hanson Park
shopping at Mayfair
our many walks and talks
spending a weekend in Wausau for Future Teachers of America
laughing, crying, and sharing
You will be missed, Susie!

Very sad to see a first class person like Sue to leave this world so soon.
Sue was always nice to everybody no matter who you were.
She was a very smart lady and her family should always be proud to have her
as a Mother.
Our thoughts and prayers go with her family.
I know Sue will be missed by many people.
