Cause of Death: Vehicle accident
Classmate City: Brookhaven
Classmate State: MS
Classmate Country: USA
Survived By: Parents, wife, siblings, children, nieces, nephews and many family members.

I first met Kirby when I was a sophomore and he was a senior. We became friends, but lost contact after he graduated. We saw each other again about 5 years later when he and his family began attending my church. I didn't see him again for another 5 years or so. We remained friends and in contact with each other off and on from that point. I will never forget that I was at the lowest point in my life and I was in my dorm room very sad and discouraged. My phone rung and it was Brooks on the other line. He could tell that I had been crying and he never asked what was wrong. He said, "I have never done this before, but if you want me to, I will pray for you." I said yes because I had asked God to comfort me and send me something or someone to help me through those dark hours. I listened, we said goodnight and when I woke again it was morning. I never forgot that night. God brought him back into my life for that appointed time. He and I had many conversations over the years about his spiritual struggles. In my eyes, I will always see him as a gentle, crazy, sweet, hilarious and all-around-guy!!!! Miss ya buddy. Lerenda

For those that didn't know Kirby was like a brother and a best friend to me. He was the link between me a my daughter's father (Robert Tillman). No, he had nothing to do with us getting together but they actually became best friends through me. So when I say he was the LINK , he was a good friend to both of us until he was no longer here. I was sad then and when I hear the song "NO Ways Tired" which his mom sang at his funeral, I find myself in tears. Kirby would always keep in touch with me wherever he moved. When ever he came home he would let me know and it was amazing how he made effort to keep in contact when I would be lacking. As I type this message I can see his smile. If you knew Kirby you knew his smile and that grin of his. Words just can not justify the memories we had. May God always bless his mom, wife and children. I will never forget Kirby and I sure do miss him.

Love You Kirby!

Monique Franklin
