I'm working for the US Army Corps of Engineers, as a civilian (not military). I've been with this organization for 15 years. 14 of those years have been in Alaska (Fairbanks and Anchorage). I spent one year in Baltimore, but I couldn't take the metropolitan any longer! The primary work I do is engineering and construction of military facilities.
All four of my kids were born in Alaska (two in Fairbanks and two in Anchorage). Sharlet Tower (class 1992) is my highschool sweetheart, and we married in 1994; one year before graduating from Seattle University.
My life since 1990 has been a lot of schooling, working, and living life in The Last Frontier. At the insistence of work (because I sure didn't want to do it), I got my Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2006. That was a 6 year process because I only took one class at a time in the evenings after work. Then, I began the ugly process of re-learning my electrical engineering to take the Professional Engineer examination, passing that and becoming a licensed engineer in 2008.
