While everyone is "waxing philosophically" (love that phrase) I will add that in a few weeks SPRING will be upon us with the grass turning green, trees blooming, floweres growing and the temperatures rising. I tend to believe that WE are all feeling melancholy due to the extrodianarly looooonnnnggg and cold winter. With SPRING comes the rebirth of our more youthful selves. BE ALIVE, take joy in what we have, what we have lived and what we have yet in front of us. Remember: "DON'T BE A DON'T BE-DO BE A DO BE!!!"

HAPPY EASTER

I agree~~~Donnie Markle is absolutely right~~Someday there will be no one left in the KW Class of 1964~~Death is a part of life~~~That is why I say "EVERY DAY IS A GIFT!"~~~ I have a great respect and zest for life, and laughter plays a very important part also.  I AM WHO I AM !!  God Bless You All.     Bonnie

Bonnie Kronson.

I agree too. ~~~Donnie Markle is absolutely right~~Someday there will be no one left in the KW Class of 1964.

However, this is something we didn't think about 30 years ago. Maybe we were better off then; not thinking about it !!

I have to disagree!  While physically I and we may all be departed I believe that we will all live on forever based on what we brought through our lives, good or bad.  The contributions we made through family, work, service, etc.are and will be our legacy and therefore the legacy of the class of 64.

Respectfully,

Paul Ahrens

There are diminsihing ripples of our lives over time. But as Fulkner said, "The past is never dead. It is not even past." Memories of us will eventually evaporate, but there will still be ripples, all mixed together, and after awhile no one will be able to tell which ripples were created by which people.

We are getting awfully philosophical, though!

Rol

Faulkner, not Fulkner.

I gotta go buy some fish for dinner!

As with Lady Macbeth, I protest.  I never said we'd all be dead one day!  I don't want any of you dead, especially me.  To tell the truth, I was trying to lighten the mood.  There was so much outpouring over Dale's death.  I just hoped we could all step back a bit.  I know we read the obituaries at our age.  Most of us have thought of our own mortality.  But today is more important.  You gotta love life, you gotta keep your sense of humor.  That was all I was trying to help us all do.

But...I am glad we're engaging.  I've enjoyed all of the comments and all the philosophizing.

Don Markle

Hey Rol.  Don't worry about eating more fish.  I had to look up the spelling of Macbeth so I didn't look dim witted.  And I reread my initial entry to make sure I didn't say that someday none of us would be alive.  There is a extra not that formed a double negative and negated my whole point.  Oh Well.....  Mostly, I just wanted to join in, and I really was losing sleep thinking about all this.

And Ron Wheeler, I gave you a verbal shot for my birthday announcement not showing up, but I never thanked you publicly for setting up this site.  Thank You.

Don Markle

Faulkner???  Rolly, you must be taking an American Masterpiece Literature course in your retirement, if so, good for you.  There is so much to learn, and NOT enough time.

Donny's right, let's celebrate life, if you're receiveing this message, it means you're still "vertical".

I, for one, am still too busy meeting deadlines [no pun intended], and keeping clients and Judges happy, to be concerned about the alternatives.

And by the way, Ron and Dick, my birthday was never mentioned either, do I get my dues back?

Jon

"Deadlines?" I really hope you are  ashamed of yourself Jon. Well, actually.... I enjoyed it.....Eat, drink and be merry!! Fair winds!

Hi Jon,

So far no courses in my retirement, I am still a bit busy doing a lot of stuff that I put off when I was a working stiff.

I love the outdoors, and my wife and I do a bunch of hikes, back-packs, bike trips, etc every year.

And I also work for some organizations that represent my values. "Work for" is of course a loose term.

Don,

It is great to hear from you, and to know you are still thinking and doing. I still remember my weekend leave in St. Louis, when I think I slept the entire weekend after drinking one beer.

I hope all is well with you.

Rol

Rol,

Don't be concerned with spelling; I believe it's a uncreative person who only knows one way to spell sometime.

Marty

Dusel is being as "creative" as ever, its that engineer's mind.  Rol, Candy and I have to get to Portland and Rockport sometime, home to my two favorite boat builders, Sabre and Back Cove, just have to make time.

George looks suntanned, like he's still Chief of the Line, outside all day.

On average, we're doing pretty good on our "final approach" to age 70 [even saying it seems a bit unreal -- must be talking about my parents, couldn't be me].

As Memorial Day nears, wherever we are, we'll toast to the Class of '64, to good memories, and turn one glass down, for our comrades who have passed on.

Jon

Jon and Don -- thanks for the thanks. Yes, I do spend time making sure everything is running smoothly. And Wightman spends a lot of time editing and attaching pictures and cartoons. And Kathy keeps the In Memory link up to date. But, there is no way -- NO WAY -- any of us could be responsible for announcing 812 classmate's birthdays. There's probably an app for that somewhere but we don't have it.

Actually, this site takes care of itself and has become much more than any of us ever imagined. We are nearing 24,500 hits in a year and half. The real thanks goes to all who have participated and made it what it is.

Yes, Bonnie is correct. KWes64 website has come alive. That's good. I must admit I have come to dread those occasional email notifications of another classmate passing. So, without 'waxing philosophically' and without additional literary references, let's put some positive spin on these posts.

Here are some thoughts: Let's get that bottle of champagne or obtain a bottle of wine that will reach maturity in twenty years and reserve it for the classmate last standing. In the meantime, how about the occasional post of a positive nature (grandchild (or great grandchild) graduating from ... or "I crossed off an item on the 'bucket list' by climbing ... or visiting ... (bonus points for mini-reunion with fellow classmates).

I have enjoyed the website and the memories that come with it. I appreciate the hard work of my fellow classmates that have made it special and unique.

There is an African tribe that believes no one dies until they are no longer remembered.  So I think we all have long lives ahead of us.

Death

Nor dread nor hope attend

A dying animal;

A man awaits his end

Dreading and hoping all;

Many times he died,

Many times rose again.

A great man in his pride

Confronting murderous men

Casts derision upon

Supersession of breath;

He knows death to the bone-

Man has created death.

Jon, if you ever make it to Maine, let me know, and we'll get together somewhere.

Marty, you don't look like you have changed much, except I don't remember a 'stache in high school! I'll try to remember in the future to offer several spellings when I get to complicated words.

Rol

Why is everyone talking about dying. I hate getting older but to speak of  death all the time makes it worse. Live for today have fun and forget the D word.  That drives me crazy if you feel good forget  the D word what will be will be. I spend so much time with my husband watching our grandaughters (1 goes to West the other Hoover and will go to West plus she plays soccer at the Flash accademy in Elma and is a super soccer player) the  other 3 go to Williamsville North all play sports and we attend as much as we can every night are late dinners sore backs but who cares. These times only happen once and you have to take advantage it makes you feel good. Forget the morbid and look at the happiness you may be missing.
