After graduating high school, I went to UNCW and recieved a BS in Environmental Science - Biology in 2001. In the Spring of 2003, I moved to Athens, Ohio to pursue a Master's degree in Plant Biology at Ohio University. I worked on American Chestnuts for my thesis research and recieved my MS in June 2005.For a year after my MS I worked as a research technician at the Arabidposis Biological Resource center at Ohio State Univeristy (the ABRC is a seed stock center for Arabidposis, the plant that is used in all plant genetic and hormone research). In 2006 I moved to Winston Salem to pursue at PhD in biology studying sand dune vegetation on barrier island (specifically Topsail!). I'm in my 3rd year now.
