Hey how' everybody doing?    Haven't seen anything from anybody for quite awhile so true to my nature, I decided to start something....

Becky and I will be coming up to Seattle again this summer (20 - 31 August) for what we have long refered to as our 'working vacation'; my work - her vacation.   During the days I will be inspecting apartment communities and during the evenings visiting with family and friends.

As usual, I would like to see if we can get things happening and put together a 'meet-n-greet' and see how many of us we can get together.   The others have been a lot of fun; like mini-reunions.   Anywho, if there's an interest let's talk it up here and wherever and get something cookin'!!

Live Music at the 50th Reunion?

The 50th is a special event for those that are able to attend. I was thinking, how about some live music for the event?  I think it would add a lot of atmosphere to the aging Pirates.  Live music can be loud, but most 64' Pirates are going to be saying Huuuu? What? Let me turn up my ear trumpet, anyway!

Two possible local entertainers I'd recommend are:

Dave Calhoun, Tropzone, Jimmy Fuffet style music.    Website Tropzone.com

Dave is a friend and played at my "Launch Party" at my Sister's 60th and retirement parties. Most recently played at the opening of the Seattle Boat Show (which he does every year)

Dave is highly recommended

                                                               and

Mark DuFresne Blues Band

I heard Mark and his Blues Band in Anacortes at the Rockfish Grill a year or so back. Great vocals, harmonica and great guitarists. great dance band!   Highly recommended!

Think about it!  Don't wait too long....

We too have been wondering about the reunion. I did make our reservations at the Double Tree but

the front desk did not have any information about it. They trasfered me to the sales dept. and the lady

there did show a banquet room reserved for us. Gary K. do you know anything more about what is

happening that night or the day before? Would appreciate any info you have. Thanks so much!!

Hey don't forget the hydroplane museum right there in Southcenter; for those of us that remember racing wooden hydros tied to our bicycles "Peddle fast, turn left"!

It was a great reunion. The only way it could have been better is if more classmates would have come. The tour of the highschool was special, and having someone as knowledgeable as John lead it was a real plus. All of the effort of everyone who put this together is much appreciated.

Hi all,

this is Sunnydale School: Kindergarten or First Grade. I recognize the red arrow folks (Gary Korsgaard, Pam Scott, Me) and think I know a few others, but not sure. Anyone want to play "Name that Child"?

Thanks!

I think the little girl to the left of you is Muff Jones.  Anita Smith is also in that row.  Isn't it amazing that we had SO many children in a class!  The poor teachers!  I  really enjoyed the picture--thanks for posting it!

Looks like Alan Vasboe 2nd from bottom left - first row - that's partially cut off.  Looks like Ken Heigh is just before him.  Believe the little girl next to the end of the same row might be Jennie Williams.  Agree with who Marian picked out too.   Looks like Renee Smith, top row, 2nd from the right.  Great that Sunnydale is still standing.

Are you in the photo, Bonnie?  I didn't start Sunnydale until 4th grade. Recently found report cards from Mr. Hazen's 6th grade class.

Great picture..  Does anyone have 2nd grade pics from Sunnydale? The reason I ask, we moved to Burien after the 1st grade, and I went to Sunnydale 2nd grade and then we moved about 3 weeks before 2nd grade was over, moved around a lot, and then moved back to Burien right after 9th grade from Cal. Started 10th grade at Hightline and went 3 years.  Longest I ever went to one school without changing. I've often wondered who I went to Sunnydale with and then high school.

Mr. Hazen was my favorite teacher!  No, I'm not in that photo -- I'll see if I can find the 2nd grade picture to see who is in that.

OK we are playing. Top row 4th from the right, is Gary! top row 3rd from the left is Donald Kelly, top row 6th from the left Gary thinks is Hurley Deroin, (anyone know the tall girl next to Gary?) Karen McNiel is second row, 2nd from the right, and Gary is working on some others. And, it is kindergarten because we have first grade here (Gary and I were in it together; we posted it earlier)This is fun. Any way we can see the entire picture? Thanks, Gary & Thanne

I went to Sunnydale all six years, I must have class pictures somewhere.  I will put it on my to do list. I remember having Mrs Kasuwaki (spelling?) in the third grade, Mrs Sickle in fourth, one of the Johnson's in fifth and Mr Lenord in sixth.

Here's the back... As you can see, the bottom half is missing. If anyone has a complete pic - please upload!

Thanks for your responses, I'll look to putting the names and faces together and upload again.

I also had Mr. Hazen and loved him; trying to rmember who else...Japanese woman, (that must be Kawasaki as Ron said), also an  Estonian woman, & Mrs. Freit (?) for 1st grade? Perhaps someone who is a better historian than me can remember these names as I'm sure we shared more classes. I went to Gregory Heights and then Sylvester after 4th grade. I noticed recently - thanks to the Burien Blog - that Highline (Historical Society?) has a long list of old class pictures and such. They have pix of the dedication of the Bell - remember that? The finding aid is on their website. I'm doing a genealogical project for my kids and uncles so looking for some items to add.
