This drives me crazy. Moved from Ballard after 1st grade, went to Sunnydale for 2nd grade, and moved to Montana before 3rd grade, and moved back after 9th grade to go to Highline. Always wonder who I went to 2nd grade with.

Think the second one might be Jimmy Parks. If so he lived next to Marian Beckler.

Merry Christmas, everyone!  Thanks for posting the picture, Sherry!  I am amazed that I can remember so many names.  The boy in the first row 2nd from the left is Jimmy Parks.  In the second row the third girl over is Susan Porterfield.  The fourth girl in the third row is Sharon, I'm not sure of her last name, McGinity?  I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Amazing what a bunch of 70 year old brains can do.... Here's the current "best guess" labeled picture. Please comment, correct or just thank Jim Mathews and Ken Goodpaster for coming up with so many names! Some are misspelled <sorry in advance> and some may be in error. But hey! Happy New Year! <and hi back at ya, Rick, I'm great - thanks for asking>

Sherry, you forgot to use the LARGE print option for the names; I had to find my magnifying glass! OMG...I can remember most of my classmate names from 1953, but can't remember what I had for breakfast!
May the New Year be filled with love, laughter and good health for all!

There are only a couple of things I can distinctly remember from Lake Burien Elementary in the 3rd grade. I remember an "art" project where we took wood animals (mine was a giraffe) that had been cut for us, and we burned them with some sort of small torch and then put a coat of varnish on them. Anyone else remember that? I think I probably still have my giraffe in a box somewhere.

Thanks for the posting of the class picture, Ted. I see I am wearing my favorite Roy Rogers cowboy shirt for picture day (LOL). Third grade was my worst year in school. I dreaded going to class because I could not do anything right for Mrs. White, no matter how hard I tried. Somehow I survived the class and made it to fourth grade in Bob Bartholick's class (where I redeemed myself somehow.) I always called Bob "Mr. Bartholick", even when I was an adult working at Boeing and I would visit him in Seahurst. It used to irritate Bob that I never addressed him as Robert or Bob when I would visit him for a friendly chat. I told him addressing him by his first name never seemed respectful to me -- he was a great teacher! I remember playing marbles (we called it "pots") in that little corner dirt area next to the gymnasium. I still have a few of my favorite marble "shooters".

Love seeing all these old friends. Unfortunately when my parents divorced ALL of our family pictures went to the  dump, all of them. If anyone has any pictures I was in from Lake Burien elementary or Seahurst or Puget Sound jr. High I'd love to see them

Thanks,

Eddie

Oh, my gosh,  My family moved to Seattle from Minnesota in 1954, and I only attended Chelsea Park for a few months.  Apparently, I was there for this class photo.  I then transferred to Sunnydale.  It's amazing how you were able to name so many of our classmates in this photo.  I'm impressed.

Interesting 3rd Grade picture. I don't remember my cousin Janet Rickman but I definitely remember and recognize Susan Storey.

Sorry, guys. Don't remember any of you.

Thanks for posting this picture Ted.  I didn't attend Chelsea Park until fouth grade but I instantly recognised most of those kids. I had Miss Stiles, Mrs. Mathers and Mr. McCallum(?). I may have pictures somewhere if I ever look. Are you staying permanently in England?

Ted, thank you for the "Good Old Days" class picture.  We sure have changed.  Will you be in England the end of May and June.  We will be visiting there and it would be nice to get together while we are there.

ps:  Thanx for the time you tried to help me learn to play the coronet.

Fun to see all of you guys looking back at these 2nd and 3rd grade pics. If you've noticed my posts about the fact that I went to Sunnydale for just a brief time in the 2nd grade and we moved to Bozeman right at the end of school year and I've always wondered who might have been in my class...WELL...my mother passed away a year ago, and I just kind of go thru a lot of her belongings at random when I feel the urge..and I found my 2nd grade report card.  I was in room 1, and my teachers name was Alice Hall. I doubt if I was in a school pic because the report is dated April 30, 1954, so we must have moved before the end of the school year.  Anybody out there from Mrs. Hall's class??

Ken Becker

Hi Eddy,

For some reason the junior high schools didn't take class pictures.  So you won't find anything from Puget Sound unless it's a private picture.  Looking back, it seems short sighted that the school didn't take pictures of the  home room classes and publish them.  I guess no one wanted to be in charge, and the students were too young to make their own yearbook, like they did in high school.

Did any of the other junior high's take class pictures?

By the way, I feel that "the gauntlet has been thrown" with the posting of class pictures from Sunnydale and Chelsea Park Elementaries.  I'm thinking of rising to the challenge, digging out my Hazel Valley Elementary pictures and posting them.

Happy New Year,

Ken Becker

Go for it Ken!   Would if I could but my photos disappeared shortly after my folks passed.   All I have is photos of Hazel Valley being torn down several years ago to be replaced by the "ski lodge" looking school that stands there now.
